After a month of practice joints on scrap pine I finally cut the corners of a real box in walnut. The fit is not perfect, but the gaps are small enough to hide with a little glue and sawdust.
Biggest lesson: mark the waste side with an X every single time. I cut on the wrong side of the line twice.
